The Festival Jazz des cinq continents is delighted to be taking part in the adventure initiated by the APJMA in the majestic setting of Mont-Dauphin (05). It’s a unique project that brings together a number of partners and reflects the desire to bring together the amateur world, learning and excellence in a regional dimension. By committing itself to this approach, APJMA is offering young artists on the jazz scene one of the essential links in the development of their work, as well as a surface for contact with the public and practitioners in the department. 2024 is the launch of this period of residency with the participation of a major artist on the European jazz scene: Pierre Bertrand.
A multi-award-winning saxophonist, outstanding composer and arranger, and initiator of prestigious BigBand projects, Pierre Bertrand has set up his own company, Casa Negra, with European ambitions. That’s what led him to set up this original and very important project for young musicians all over Europe: European Jazz Companions. The Festival Jazz des cinq continents welcomed him, his group and the American trumpeter Randy Brecker, and presented one of the EJCompanions sessions in 2022 with the support of the IMFP in Salon-de-Provence.
It’s a great opportunity to host this project in residence, thanks to the support of the Center of the Monuments Nationaux and the Commune de Mont-Dauphin. The Festival Jazz des cinq continents, which is also committed to a European approach, will be offering the artists taking part in these residency sessions initiated by APJMA a window into its programming.
Take a look at the programme and follow the sparkle of jazz in all its modernity.
